Precision 2000 certified as 8a Business Development Company

2005 was a great year for Precision 2000, Inc. not only because its projects have grown but also because 2005 was the year where we achieved the certification as 8(a) business development and small disadvantaged company with the federal government. Participation in the 8(a) Program will give us the opportunity to continue our growth and increase our experience in the marketplace with the possibility of generating prime contractor opportunities to exhibit our management skill sets. Participation in the 8(a) program will also give us the opportunity to expand in neighboring states further enhancing chances for private sector work and open bid public projects as a construction company rather than a "minority" subcontractor.

Halloween and Happy Holidays
Administrative and Operation departments went to Dave & Buster's to enjoy a hallowing party. After having dinner from its all-American menu and funniest desserts, the employees and their families shared time playing billiard and shuffleboard. Also, they went, with their Power Card charged up, to challenge their luck at the winner's circle, a huge area plenty of electronic games and arcade games which returned a lot of tickets to be redeemed for prices. At the end of the party everyone went back home happy and full of toys and merchandise won at the arcade.
Precision 2000, held its traditional end of the year party offering a "Colombian party". Employees of different countries enjoyed the delicious Colombian food and popular games. Food included among others "Ajiaco", a potato based soup with avocado, chicken, corn and delicious seasoning, "Bandeja Paisa", a plate with red beans, meat, rice, and plantain, and off course the traditional "empanadas", a turnover, and "arepas”, a white corn bread. After having dinner, the CEO and President gave some recognitions and award to outstanding employees for their hard work. Finally, the play time arrived. People tried the traditional "Sapo" ,that means frog, a game where the player has to score throwing a series of rings to the frog's mouth. Also, they tried the popular "tejo", a mix between an air bowling and eye-bull, and played soccer. Don't worry, just see the experts playing below. This was a really cross cultural party with plenty of food and entertainment.
We continue to build-up knowledge at the company
Continuing with Precision's philosophy to invest on the human capital, different groups of employees were trained. Field Engineers took a two-day workshop regarding robotic stations and topographic measures. This equipment would allow more control on site and a better interface with Terramodel, a CAD software. Project and safety engineers assisted to a 30-hour OSHA class. This training goes beyond the minimum legal requirements needed to have a safe workplace. Some foremen took a two-days Saturday training at the HCAG to read and interpret blue prints. After approving a test, Precision is able to assure that the job of our crews will be improved. Also, the decorative concrete crew took a couple of courses and hands-on trainings. It was trained on new techniques of stamped concrete and overlays using cementitious toppings, dies and stains. Finally, some managers went to the World of Concrete in Las Vegas and took training in concrete production, management, technology, and decorative concrete. These seminars were an excellent opportunity to learn about the new trends in the market and be prepared.
