Christmas Party

Precision 2000, Inc. wanted to celebrate the end of its 5th year and its achievements in 2003 with its employees. Every one gathered at Barley's Billiards in Midtown on December 19th where they played and ate until 10pm. Roughly 30 employees came to the Christmas Party. There were three or four groups at different billiard tables where engineers, workers, and administrators not only played to win but also had a great time. Finally, the president of the company, Mr Carlos Sanchez, spoke and praised employees for their work and commitment. Of course, Santa Clause arrived at the party and all employees left happy and loaded with gifts.

 

New Projects

During the first quarter of the year, Precision 2000, Inc. has started three very important projects for the company. They are Sams Lake Wetlands Mitigation, Georgia Power Ash Pond Closure, and E.I.T. Embankment and Utilities Relocation Phase 1 – Taxiway “L” Extension Embankment, Phase 2.

Sams Lake Wetlands Mitigation project is a project with the City of Atlanta. This project consisted of the construction of a wetlands habitat at Sams Lake in Fayette County, GA., along with a tributary of the Flint River. Precision 2000, Inc. will create a natural environment making a wetland, planting many new trees and bushes. This is an environmental project with a big responsibility and high impact on the community.

The second project is the Georgia Power Ash Pond Closure, which is being developed at a former Georgia Power plant in Macon, Georgia. This project consists of capping and closure of pond number 1. In this project, Precision 2000, Inc. will make a big earth work and build a retention wall along the river using gabions.

The last project that started in this first quarter is the E.I.T. Embankment and Utilities Relocation Phase 1 – Taxiway “L” Extension Embankment, Phase 2. In this project Precision 2000, Inc. is in Joint Venture with the Lions Group to build an embankment to prepare the area for the extension of a taxiway. This project implies a precise coordination with the other contractors and the airport authorities because of the safety and security standards that the airport has.

Awards

The last quarter of 2003 brought two new awards for Precision 2000, Inc., these are the Construction Firm of the Year by the US Department of Commerce MBDA and Entrepreneur of the year by Hispanic Business Magazine. The first one was received by Precision's President and CEO in October at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Atlanta. The second one was granted in Los Angeles, California, in November at the Hispanic Business Magazine Gala. Precision 2000, Inc. wants to share both award with its employees and its customers because they are an important piece of Precision's success.

Training

.

In March 2004, the heavy equipment operators that were hired an for Airport project were trained for three days. They were at Precision 2000, Inc. headquarters, where a trainer from the Georgia Mine Safety and Health Training Program spoke about safety and prevention. The topics in the 30-hour program were:

  • Self-Rescue and respiratory devices
  • First aid
  • Health (Dust, noise, and chemicals hazcom)
  • Ground control
  • Accident prevention
  • Transportation controls and communication systems
  • Explosives
  • Introduction to work environment mining method-operation
  • Hazard recognition and avoidance of electrical and other hazards
  • Emergency procedures, escape, and firefighting
